So why are apple TV's so expensive?
I have been asked this quite a few times lately so here's the answer.
Apple TV2 or 2nd generation still runs on iOS5 which can be jailbroken
Apple TV3 or 3rd generation runs on iOS6 which as yet cannot be jailbroken.

So how do you know which model you have ?
The 720p model with was being sold up until march 2012 is and ATV2 (2nd generation)
The 1080p model is the model which is currently being sold and is commonly know as 3rd generation.

Many ATV2's are being sold for unto £200.

If you're an iPhone 4 owner, I say  No. Generally speaking,  why should you upgrade. You have the smartest looking phone with a beautiful screen and still the most advanced in the world. So will iPhone 4S owners. When you upgrade to iOS 5 (available Oct. 12), you will experience most of the latest iPhone software advantages. The only thing you're missing, software-wise, is the 4S-only Siri personal voice-activated assistant. The improved antenna design will probably not mean fewer dropped calls, for some. In a nutshell, I think it was a good move for apple to hold onto the 4 model for another while. It was only released on the 24th June 2010.
